Maria's Metalmark (Lasaia maria Clench)

Wing span: 15/16 - 1 1/8 inches (2.4 - 2.9 cm).

Identification: Mall dull iridescent blue with a few dark spots. Female orange-brown or gray-brown suffused with steely blue. Forewing pointed with outer margin with slight concavities.

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: Several flights, March - December

Caterpillar hosts: Unknown..

Habitat: Canyons with tropical dry forest or thorn scrub.

Range: Sonora, Mexico, south along western Mexico to Guatemala. Found once in southeast Arizona.
