Wing span: 2 3/4 - 3 1/8 inches (7.1 - 8.0 cm).

Identification: Upperside Brown-black. Underside with basal half of both wings white, outerhalf dark brown.

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: July and October in southern Texas.

Caterpillar hosts: Not reported.

Habitat: Tropical lowland forests.

Range: Central Mexico south to Brazil. A rare stray in southern Texas.
