Wing span: 7/8 - 1 1/8 inches (2.2 - 2.9 cm).

Identification: Upperside is brown-black with dark mottling; forewing has tiny transparent white spots at the apex.

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: June and October-November in South Texas; March-November in Mexico.

Caterpillar hosts: Not reported.

Adult food: Not reported.

Habitat: Canals in subtropical woods.

Range: Honduras north to northern Mexico. A periodic stray to central and South Texas and southern Arizona.
