Prince's Feather (Amaranthus hybridus)

Identification: Flowers small, green arranged in a series of elongate spikes. Leaves widest in the middle and tapering to a sharp point and a long leaf petiole. Plant 2 to 6 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout North America.

Habitat: Prince's Feather is found in a variety of disturbed habitats including roadsides, fields, and alongside rivers and lakes.

Flowering period: August to October.

Note: Several other less common eastern species of Amaranthus exist. Identification is based on technical details.
