Green Dragon (Arisaema dracontium) Identification: "Flower" consisting of a rounded, modified leaf with a projecting hood (spathe) and containing an extremely long and narrow flower stalk crowded with minute green flowers (spadix). A single leaf divided into 5 to 15 leaflets. Plant 1 to 4 feet in height. Distribution: Throughout most of eastern North America, but local in distribution. Habitat: Green Dragon is found in rich woods and along stream banks. Flowering period: May to June. |
