Dodder (Cuscuta gronovii) Identification: Plant parasitic, without leaves, and wrapping itself about host plants like tangled string. Flowers small, with 5 triangular, waxy petals. Stem yellowish-green to orange. Distribution: Throughout most of North America except for parts of the west. Habitat: This species of Dodder is found on a variety of herbaceous plants and is typically found in fields, roadsides, forest margins, and along streams. Flowering period: July to October. |
