Ditch Stonecrop (Penthorum sedoides) Identification: Flowers small, greenish-white, with minute green-white petals. Stamens 10 to 12, dominating the flower. Flowers in terminal sprays (cymes). Seed capsule with spiny projections and divided into 5 or 6 parts. Stems and leaves smooth, without hair, upper stem angulate. Leaves alternate, blade-shaped, tapering at their bases. Plant 6 to 24 inches in height. Distribution: Throughout eastern and central North America. Habitat: Ditch Stonecrop is found in swamps, ditches, and along river banks. Flowering period: July to September.
