Smooth Rock Cress (Arabis laevigata)

Identification: Flowers white to pink. Seed pods elongate and drooping. Plant gray-green in color. Upper leaves spear-shaped with the base divided into two lobes clasping the stem and the outer margin smooth. The basal leaves form a weak rosette, do not clasp the stem, and the outer margin is toothed. Plant 1 to 3 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout eastern North America.

Habitat: This species is found in rocky woods and along ledges and cliffs.

Flowering period: April to July.
