Sneezeweed Yarrow (Achillea ptarmica)

Alien: Native of Europe.

Identification: Flowers white, small, daisylike with 6 to 8 ray florets. Flowers arranged in flat-topped clusters. Leaves elongate, grasslike with saw-toothed outer margins. Plant 1 to 2 feet in height.

Distribution: Southeastern Canada, southward to New York and New England, and westward to Michigan and Minnesota. Also in the Pacific Northwest.

Habitat: Sneezeweed Yarrow is a weed found along damp roadsides, ditches, and fields.

Flowering period: July to September.

Similar Species:

The linear, grasslike leaves with saw-toothed edges and small, daisylike flowers arranged in flat-topped clusters are characteristic features of Sneezeweed Yarrow.
