Pale Indian-plantain (Arnoglossum atriplicifolia)

Identification: Flowers small, unattractive, cream-white, and supported by stiff, slender bracts. Flowers arranged in a flat-topped cluster. Stem smooth with a whitish bloom. Upper leaves lanceolate to toothed. Bottom leaves large, rounded, with numerous irregular lobes. Plant 3 to 6 feet in height.

Distribution: Most of eastern North America and the Plains States.

Habitat: Pale Indian-plantain is found in dry woods and openings in the forest.

Flowering period: July to September.
