Tall Wormwood (Artemisia campestris)

Identification: Flowers round, yellow-green, nodding. Flowers arising on flower stalks from the leaf axils. Leaves threadlike, heavily forked. Plant 2 to 5 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout most of North America. Also native to Europe.

Habitat: Tall Wormwood is found on dry sandy soils, particularly along ocean beaches and the Great Lakes.

Flowering period: July to October.

Similar Species:

The nodding flowers arising from the leaf axils and the forked, threadlike leaves are both highly distinctive features of Tall Wormwood.
