Rough-leaved Aster (Eurybia radula)

Identification: Flowers arranged in open panicles. Ray florets light lilac in color. Floral bracts weakly recurved. Leaves ovate, lanceolate, with a rough and wrinkled feeling and appearance, and with the margin dentate. Plant 1 to 3 feet in height.

Distribution: New England, southward to Virginia and Kentucky.

Habitat: Found in wet woods and swamps.

Flowering period: July to September.
