Annual Salt-Marsh Aster (Symphyotrichum subulatum)

Identification: Flowers with very short violet ray florets. Stem zig-zap in appearance. Leaves long and grass-like with a single, central vein. Plant 6 to 30 inches in height.

Distribution: Found along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. Also occurs in the region of the Great Lakes.

Habitat: Salt Marshes.

Flowering Period: July to October.
