Pink Tickseed (Coreopsis rosea)

Identification: Flowers relatively small for the genus, with pink (rarely white) ray florets. Ray florets 4 to 8, hanging downward. Leaves grasslike, in pairs. Plant 8 to 22 inches in height.

Distribution: Found along the eastern sea coast from Nova Scotia in the north, southward to eastern Maryland.

Habitat: Pink Tickseed is found on damp sand, peat, and generally along the ocean shoreline.

Flowering period: July to September.

Similar Species:

The small, pink flowers with reflexed petals and the long, paired, grasslike leaves are distinctive for Pink Tickseed.
