Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum)

Identification: The flowers are white and arranged in a flat-topped cluster at the apex of the plant. The leaves are wrinkled, elongate, with a sharply pointed apex. The leaves are arranged in opposite pairs and their bases wrap around the stem. The leaves and stem are hairy. Plant 2 to 5 feet in height.

Distribution: Manitoba in the west to Nova Scotia in the east, southward to Florida and Texas.

Habitat: This species is primarily found in marshes, swamps, and other low, wet areas.

Flowering period: July to October.
