Pale Purple Coneflower (Echinacea pallida)

Identification: Flower sunflowerlike, with pale pink-purple ray florets. Disk of flower large, raised, brown. Ray florets drooping. Stem hairy. Lower leaves elongate, thin, tapering, and with parallel venation. Outer margin of leaf smooth. Plant 2 to 4 feet in height.

Distribution: Found primarily in the Plains States, but also found in the eastern part of the United States.

Habitat: Pale Purple Coneflower is a prairie species.

Flowering period: June to July.
