Sabatia angularis The flowers of Rose Pink have a central yellow, star, but the star is small, less conspicuous. The stem of Rose Pink is 4-angled.
Sabatia campanulata Slender Marsh Pink has elongate, narrower leaves and the sepals are long, reaching the outer margins of the petals. Marsh Pink (Sabatia stellaris) Identification: Flowers pink to slightly lavender, with 5 petals. Center of flower with a large, yellow star margined in red and outlined in white, yellow stamens, and a yellow style bifurcate at its tip. Sepals relatively short. Flowers single on flower stalks. Stem smooth, round. Leaves lanceolate, elongate, tapered at the tip, nearly sessile to the stem. Plant 6 to 20 inches in height. Distribution: Found along the Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast from Massachusetts to Florida and west to Louisiana. Habitat: Marsh Pink is found in coastal marshes. Flowering period: July to October. |
