Phacelia dubia Small-flowered Phacelia is similar, but the petals are not fringed and the flowers, in general, are smaller. Miami Mist (Phacelia purshii) Identification: Flowers pastel blue, with 5 petals, 5 stamens, and a single style bifurcate at about one-half its length. Petal outer margins fringed. Flowers arranged in a terminal spray, the spray usually slightly curved. Leaves elongate, with a series of lobes along each outer margin. Plant 6 to 20 inches in height. Distribution: Wisconsin in the west to Pennsylvania in the east, southward to Georgia and Arkansas. Habitat: Miami Mist is found in rich woods and fields. Flowering period: April to June. |
