Corydalis aurea The enlarged, up-turned upper petal and the short, down-turned flower spur will separate Yellow Corydalis from either Golden Corydalis or Slender Corydalis.
Corydalis micrantha The enlarged, up-turned upper petal and the short, down-turned flower spur will separate Yellow Corydalis from either Golden Corydalis or Slender Corydalis. Yellow Corydalis (Corydalis flavula) Identification: Flowers yellow, tubular, with a crest on the enlarged, upturned upper petal and a dentate, slightly down-turned lower petal. Flower spur present, but relatively short, down-turned. Leaves deeply cut, but fundamentally arranged in groups of three. Plant 6 to 16 inches in height. Distribution: Minnesota, Iowa and Michigan in the west to New York in the east, southward to Florida and Louisiana. Habitat: Yellow Corydalis is found in open woods, primarily on rocky or sandy soil. Flowering period: April to May. |
