White Clover (Trifolium repens L.)

Alien: Native of Europe.

Identification: Flowers pealike, white or white tinted with pink. Flowers arranged in a round cluster. Flowers and leaves on separate stalks from a creeping runner. Leaves with three leaflets. Each leaflet with a pale, triangular chevron. Plant 4 to 10 inches in height.

Distribution: Throughout North America.

Habitat: White Clover is an abundant, weedy species found in lawns, fields, and along roadsides.

Flowering period: May to October.

Similar Species: Alsike Clover also has white flower heads. However flowers and leaves occur on the same stems and the leaflets of Alsike Clover lack pale triangular chevrons.
