White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum (Michx.) Salisb.)

Identification: Flowers white, large (2-4 inches in diameter), turning pink with age, with three petals, and yellow stamens. Flower erect and arising from a short flower stalk above a circle of three leaves. Leaves broad, large, and apically pointed. Plant 1 to 1.5 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout most of eastern North America.

Habitat: White Trillium is found in rich woods.

Flowering period: April to June.

Similar Species: Dwarf White Trillium has smaller flowers and the leaves are smaller, much narrower, and not apically pointed.
