Dwarf White Trillium (Trillium nivale Riddell)

Identification: Flowers white, relatively small for the genus with petals less than 1 inch in length. Leaves narrow, small, and not apically pointed. Plant small, 2 to 6 inches in height.

Distribution: Minnesota in the west to Pennsylvania in the east, southward to Virginia, Missouri, and Nebraska.

Habitat: Dwarf White Trillium is found in rich woods.

Flowering period: March to May.

Similar Species: Dwarf White Trillium might be confused with White Trillium but is a smaller plant with smaller flowers and narrow, non-pointed leaves. The species typically appears earlier in the spring than White Trillium
