Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis L.)

Identification: Flowers reddish-pink with projecting yellow stamens and styles. Each flower with five elongate, clubbed spurs. Leaves divided into 3 leaflets. Height 1 to 2 feet.

Distribution: Throughout eastern and central North America.

Habitat: Columbine is found in rocky woods and the slopes of hills and mountains.

Flowering period: April to July.

Similar Species: The pink-red flowers with the yellow stamens and 5 elongate flower spurs are distinctive.
