Tall Meadow Rue (Thalictrum pubescens Pursh)

Identification: Flowers lacking petals and with blooms of white, thin stamens in roughly globular clusters. Stems green. Leaves greatly divided into leaflets, each leaflet with 3 apical teeth.. A tall plant 3 to 8 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout most of eastern North America.

Habitat: Tall Meadow Rue is found in swamps, marshes, and along streams.

Flowering period: June to September.

Similar Species: The clusters of white bursts of stamens and the intricately divided leaves are distinctive for this species.

Comments: This species has been referred to a Thalictrum polygamum.
