Fern-leaved False Foxglove (Aureolaria pedicularia [L.] Raf.)

Identification: Flowers large, yellow, bell-shaped, with 5 large petal lobes. Stems heavily branched, downy, and sticky. Leaves in opposite pairs, heavily divided, fernlike. Plant 1 to 4 feet in height.

Distribution: Minnesota in the west to New England in the east, southward to Florida and Missouri.

Habitat: Fern-leaved False Foxglove is found primarily in dry oak woods.

Flowering period: August to September.

Similar Species: The large yellow flowers and fern-like leaves are characteristic features of Fern-leaved False Foxglove.
